Train-the-Trainer

4-Day Program

Both new and veteran trainers can benefit from this 4-day series. Participants will be shown how to construct and conduct a training needs assessment and identify the performance gaps. Participants will receive comprehensive checklists which detail the components involved in designing, delivering and evaluating a training workshop. They will participate in group activities which utilize a variety of methods of instruction to generate participation and ensure the transfer of learning to the workplace. In groups, the participants will be video taped facilitating their own workshop which they developed using the skills learned throughout the session. In addition, participants will role play how to deal with disruptive individuals, and how to conduct the various levels of evaluation to assist organizations in measuring their return on their training investment (ROI).

Day 1: Analyzing Performance & Training Needs

By the end of this workshop, participants will…

  • review the major components that create a positive learning environment for training groups
  • utilize techniques to assist in targeting the needs and concerns of their audience
  • understand the importance of adult learning principles and learning styles for effective facilitation
  • practice applying the learning as it relates to their work environments

Who should attend?

All trainers and facilitators who must analyze the training needs of their organization.

Day 2: Facilitating Tools & Techniques

By the end of this workshop, participants will…

  • review a comprehensive checklist to illustrate the detailed components involved in designing, delivering and evaluating a training workshop
  • select and implement a variety of methods of instruction that generate participation and the transfer of learning
  • utilize questions, probes and effective verbal and nonverbal communication strategies to support and stimulate learning
  • practice applying the learning as it relates to their work environments

Who should attend?

All trainers and facilitators who would like to enhance their techniques and methodologies for training their adult audience.

Day 3: Design the Training & Instruction

By the end of this workshop, participants will…

  • define learning objectives and reasons for use in adult learning activities
  • design a sample facilitation/learning plan
  • identify the key responsibilities of the facilitator
  • evaluate ways to deal with disruptive participants

Who should attend?

All trainers and facilitators who want to enhance their skills in lesson planning and writing concise and achievable learning objectives.

Day 4: Plan, Practice, Present & Evaluate

By the end of this workshop, participants will…

  • put together a comprehensive training session utilizing the techniques and tools covered over the last 3 days.
  • facilitate their training session while being video taped.
  • view the tapes, evaluate themselves and assess the constructive comments from the instructor and the other participants.

Who should attend?

All trainers and facilitators who want to practice in front of a video camera, see themselves in action and critique their own performance.
